Last year I got to see Spoon on NYE at the Metro for FREE because my friend Dana interned there; I was her very lucky plus one. It was fantastic. Anyone know of any good shows on the 31st this year? Just curious.
An Eye for Errors
At the magazine, we have an outstanding copy editor. She finds the smallest, yet important, mistakes in our magazine and also fact checks names and dates. I have no idea how she does all this and turns around two or three stories in 24 hours. She also does this on the side, and is also a librarian and a copy editor at another company.
I’m good at finding mistakes, but not every single one...

It’s freezing outside. Negative 30 degree windchill is just not acceptable. It’s just DECEMBER!
I caught the Metra this morning and at one point, I thought my feet may have been frostbitten. I was crying it hurt so much to walk toward the wind. It felt how I imagine botox would feel— my face was frozen into frown for a bit.

Northwestern University’s prestigious Kellogg School of Management this week erroneously sent notices of acceptance to 50 applicants it had decided to reject. The applicants are not happy.
Can you even imagine how that must have felt? In this economy, it’s like someone giving you a job and then taking it away (unfortunately, I’ve actually heard a story just like that a few days...

Instead Mother Nature decided to dump 5 inches of snow on us. We’re leaning towards leaving in the morning instead.
PS: It took me an hour to get home tonight and I’m happy about it. For my coworkers living in the city, it’ll take them three hours.

6:00 Leave for Rockford for a funeral which is the next morning— we’re staying the night— and drive through the snow storm
